WELCOME!  I am an assistant professor in the Biology Department at Florida Southern College.  As a behavioral ecologist, I am interested in the evolutionary design of animal signals.  My research addresses questions about:
  • the influence of environmental factors (e.g., habitat light, predation pressure) on signal structure
  • mechanisms of signal production
  • signal perception and the information conveyed by signals
  • the adaptive significance of convergence and diversification in signal structure
I use a variety of organisms to explore these issues, including lizards, butterflies, primates, and other animals. Please visit the associated pages to learn more about my interests and what I do here at FSC.  Thanks!
